We have evolved from two companies, each with a rich history which have now become one.
SCi Games was founded in 1988, by Jane Cavanagh, Chief Executive, as a publisher of computer and video games, making SCi one of the longest established companies in the games industry. In 1997, SCi had its first number one hit with Carmageddon, which went on to become a global phenomenon. In 1999, SCi moved to the official list of the London Stock Exchange and embarked on a new strategy of investing in high quality licenses including The Italian Job and Thunderbirds. In 2002 SCi released Conflict: Desert Storm, which went straight to No.1. To date four Conflict games have been released, amassing sales in excess of 6 million units worldwide. SCi has published over 100 products across all major platforms.
Eidos was founded in 1990 as a video compression R&D company. In 1995 Eidos moved into the entertainment software market and in 1996 acquired CentreGold plc which included Core Design. Later that year Tomb Raider was first released on the Saturn. In May 1999, Championship Manager 3 became the fastest selling PC game in UK history and the following year, Hollywood star Angelina Jolie starred as Lara Croft in the film of "Tomb Raider" confirming Lara's status as a major brand in the mainstream marketplace. Later that year Eidos' Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? became the UK's Christmas No.1 and went on to become the fastest selling game to reach one million units sold in the UK. Subsequent releases of Championship Manager, Hitman, Commandos and Tomb Raider titles, confirmed Eidos' position as the UK's largest publisher of entertainment software.
In May 2005 SCi Games acquired Eidos Interactive, offering the combined group a valuable portfolio of intellectual property, targeted license acquisitions and a globally competitive stable of forthcoming products.
